“Last October, during Questione Time, I raised the historic problem of the lacp, the autonomous institutes of public housing, which are found in every province of Campania in the Regional Council”. This was stated by the regional councillor of the Greens, Emilio Borrelli. “In fact, the current law – declared Borrelli – provides that the assignments of housing are carried out by local administrations and that evictions are also managed by the same administrations. Of the 1.600 requests for eviction notices requested in 2016 by the Iacp to the Municipality of Naples, however, only a few have gone forward from a judicial activity point of view. In reality, to date no eviction has been carried out or is enforceable. In short, the official procedures are started but rarely do they lead to the request for judicial action and almost never do they obtain a result. At least according to the official data from two years ago, because the most recent ones are still being processed. As I have denounced several times in the Chamber, it is known that in many Neapolitan and non-Neapolitan realities, public housing is occupied not by poor people but by squatters in the best of cases. In other cases, public housing is managed by the Camorra. In short, the squatters paradoxically pay a rent that is higher than what they should to the public administration directly to the clans that get fat by managing public housing as if it were theirs. For this reason, we welcome the start of forced evictions starting with the families of the clans that the DDA has been investigating for some time. Now we must go all the way in chasing away these criminals because if the State backs down in front of the families of Camorra members who live off the taxpayers in public housing, the social damage will be incalculable and the strength of the clans will increase further. Once the challenge has been launched, there is no stopping it,” concluded the regional councilor of the Greens Emilio Borrelli.
