Wweekend full of events for the Devozioni Project directed by Gigi Di Luca, organized by the Municipality of Torre del Greco and co-financed by the Department of Development and Promotion of Tourism of the Campania Region with POC 2014-2020 funds. On Friday 30 November and Saturday 1 December, two concerts will liven up the area of Molini Meridionali Marzoli (via Calastro, 10 – Torre del Greco). We start with La Maschera, fresh from overseas live performances in Canada and the victory of the 2018 Andrea Parodi Award, on stage Friday at 20.30 pm (free admission). Since November 2014, the year of the release of their debut album “O vicolo 'e l'alleria”, the Neapolitan group led by Roberto Colella has established itself as one of the most interesting independent bands in Campania. A band capable of ranging from 60s/70s rock to popular tradition, passing through punk and ska. “ParcoSofia”, the second album, is made up of 11 tracks in which elements of folk, rock and world music coexist, confirming the strong stylistic contamination, also deriving from the fortunate artistic encounter with the Senegalese musician Laye Ba. On the stage of the Molini Meridionali Marzoli, together with Roberto Colella (vocals, guitars, sax and keyboards), we find the complete combo composed of Vincenzo Capasso (trumpet), Alessandro Morlando (guitars), Antonio Gomez Caddeo (bass and double bass) and Marco Salvatore on drums. Same location on Saturday 1 December for the concert by Giovanni Mauriello, historic founder in 1967 of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, with guests Patrizio Trampetti and Gennaro Venditto. Between long chants, tammurriate, fronne, tarantellas, moresche and villanelle, music intertwines with poetry in the name of the most authentic popular tradition. A journey through the history and myths of a land rich in suggestions, emotions and colours, which find their most immediate synthesis in the voices of the people. Mauriello will be accompanied by Nadia Pepe and Matteo Mauriello (vocals), Gerardo Buonocore (accordion), Aniello Palomba (guitar), Salvatore Della Vecchia (mandola and mandolin), Luigi Sigillo (bass) and Pasquale Benincasa (percussion). In addition to the musical events, the Molini Meridionali Marzoli will host Expo Torre from November 30th to December 2nd, an exhibition of art, crafts, local products and sketches of the Immaculate Conception floats at the “Stecca” premises, curated by Proloco. And again, on November 30th at 18 pm, the Round Table “In the footsteps of Vincenzo, the Holy Worker – Tourism, Commerce and Religiosity”, a discussion on the promotion of the territory through its tourist and religious potential. On December 2nd at 10am “It's a party”, a workshop for children on how to build the floats of the Immaculate Conception. Also scheduled are two guided tours on Saturday, December 1st: at 10 am at the Coral Museum and at 12 pm at the house of San Vincenzo Romano, which can be attended for free. The long weekend ends on Sunday 2 December with Devozioni Teatrali, travelling shows in the churches of San Michele, Santa Maria delle Grazie, SS. Maria dell' Assunta, Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, curated by the theatre companies Il Teatro di Donna Peppa, Centro Artistico Nuova Arcadia, Associazione Gianni Pernice and 'A Cumpagnia 'e Zazzà. Devozioni continues with numerous artistic events and cultural initiatives scheduled until December 18, when Angelo Branduardi is expected to close the event, on stage at the Basilica of Santa Croce.
