Napoli. In the wake of the persistent action to combat the phenomenon of national and international recycling of vehicles of criminal origin, the investigative staff of the Judicial Police Team of the Highway Police Department for Campania and Basilicata recently achieved the further tracking and recovery of four medium and large-engine vehicles, for a total commercial value of approximately 200 thousand euros. The vehicles, of very recent construction, had been stolen from their legitimate owners in separate criminal acts of theft between central and southern Italy, but with a collector in the very heart of the Neapolitan hinterland, committed last October to the detriment of private citizens. The cars found, still intact and registered just a few months earlier, were already ready for their 'washing' and recycling on the legal market with false documentation and counterfeit license plates. The vehicles, due to their brand, were particularly sought-after on the market, being two Range Rover Sports and two Jeep Renegades, all with a top-of-the-range profile.
The activities, also in this case, allowed to establish responsibilities with consequent referral to the competent judicial authority of the guilty parties. The investigators, thanks to specific methodologies, shortly after other recent similar operations, with this latest result, if on the one hand have added further weight to the action of disarticulation on the territory to the organizations dedicated to the illegal phenomenon, on the other hand they highlight how the same is pervasive and recrudescent. The effective contrast in this criminal sector, as highlighted by the Traffic Police itself, is the result of specific skills and specializations of the investigators combined with the ability of a vision and analysis beyond the borders of the national territory, given the transnationality of which the phenomenon is characterized. Finally, the men of the Specialty highlight how every citizen must adopt the appropriate precautions when purchasing used vehicles and report any suspicion to the Traffic Police.
