LThe Guardia di Finanza Company of Marcianise, after having discovered only a few days ago a real illegal fireworks factory, has now identified a new depot of illegally held explosive material, seizing about half a quintal of prohibited pyrotechnic devices and almost 300 mortars used to illegally practice the activity of pyrotechnician. The "firecrackers", handmade and in the absence of any safety standards, were discovered by the Fiamme Gialle inside a private home owned by a 62-year-old unemployed man, in the town of Cervino, this time also near an elementary school, and not far from the town hall and several commercial establishments.
During the raid, the financial police discovered over 400 high-explosive pyrotechnic devices, already boxed and ready to be sold on the black market "stalls" during the upcoming Christmas holidays. They also found almost 300 mortars, used to perform commissioned pyrotechnic shows, despite the lack of the necessary license issued by the Police Headquarters.
The items found were seized to be destroyed as quickly as possible by specialized personnel. The person responsible was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere on charges of possession and failure to report explosive products. The intervention of the Guardia di Finanza thus preventively removed from the market an illicit and unsafe supply channel for explosive material, also avoiding possible accidental and uncontrolled explosions due to the lack of any accident prevention measures.
The investigations into the case are currently underway in order to reconstruct the illegal activity carried out by the reported individual, active in the local market to perform unauthorised fireworks displays with home-made and unsafe fireworks.
