Naples. Tensions erupt over the eviction of illegal villas on Via Camaldolilli: one resident was burned, four people were taken to police headquarters for questioning. A tense morning erupted over the eviction of illegal villas, which were cleared this morning in preparation for demolition. Police were met with spiked bands on the roadway, while one of the protesters suffered burns to his face and singed his hair and beard. The man climbed onto a shed attached to one of the illegal villas and threatened to set himself on fire. The flames burned his face and scorched his hair and beard. During the tensions with residents, two law enforcement officials, including Pietropaolo Auriemma, the director of the Giugliano police station and now head of services at the Naples Police Headquarters, were doused with gasoline by protesters. The two illegal villas were eventually cleared amidst considerable tension. They will now be handed over to the project manager, who will carry out the demolition as ordered by the judicial authorities. Four people are being questioned at the Naples Police Headquarters. The police report that gasoline was thrown at law enforcement officers. Furthermore, at dawn, nailed bands had been placed on the ground, damaging police vehicles that arrived on the scene.
