NLast May, following yet another note sent by Gennaro Capodanno, president of the Comitato Valori collinari, which has been fighting for years for the creation of the educational agricultural park that should be built, but the conditional is a must at this point, in the area of the former gasometer, which extends over an area located between Viale Raffaello and Salita Cacciottoli, in Vomero, the long-standing issue had returned to the forefront of the news. On that occasion, the commitment had been made that the park would finally see the light by last summer.” Since then, and another six months have now passed, nothing seems to have changed – underlines Capodanno bitterly – . So nothing more has been heard about the agricultural park, since the most absolute silence has once again fallen on the entire affair. "And yet - Capodanno points out - on March 20th next three years will have passed since a fire, which broke out right in the area of the former gasometer, with flames that dangerously licked even some buildings, also creating considerable panic among the residents, brought back to the center of public attention the age-old questions, linked to the destination of that area and the failure to build the educational agricultural park.
“Previously, in March 2011, after various setbacks – Capodanno emphasizes -, the park project was also presented with great fanfare to the press, in the meantime, after years of waiting, the works for its construction had just begun, works that were supposed to last six months but were instead suddenly suspended. Almost eight years have passed since then and, in fact, the park remained only on paper, getting stuck, for a long time, in the legal issues between the owners and the Municipality of Naples “. “Years of waiting, over two million euros financed at the time – continues Capodanno – but to this day it is still not known if and when this park will see the light of day, which was supposed to be built on an area of about 14 thousand square meters, acquired by the Municipality of Naples, an area that until the 80s had been occupied by a gasometer bell, subsequently disused, and the related equipment for its operation “, “The park was designed on a restricted area, which belonged to a private individual, and under a part of which at the time the hypothesis was being aired that an underground parking lot could be built – remembers Capodanno -. After a series of battles supported by the committees and associations of the area, the Municipality of Naples drew up a variant for a redevelopment project, published at the time also in the maps of the website of the Municipality of Naples, a variant approved with council resolution no. 44/2001 and with municipal council resolution no. 2365/2002. Subsequently, with the decree of the President of the Regional Council of Campania n. 529 of 24 September 2004, the same variant was also approved by the Campania Region".
