Revolution at Google, but it is not one of those that will bring new features and advantages for the millions of Italian users. Yes, because every day there are thousands of surfers who turn to Big G to get not only advice on this or that recipe, but also to understand more about your own physical problems. The latest update of the most popular search engine seems to have made a big mistake. If before it relied exclusively on authoritative portals that deal with health and wellness, today things seem to have changed and by virtue of some technical wizardry, unreliable pages with ulterior motives have risen to the top of the search results.Health is an important topic and should not be left in the hands of algorithms not specifically designed for diagnosis, especially now that Google no longer seems to know what to do when the concern we deliver to them is of a medical nature. We have prepared for you some advice to navigate a world of the web that, when it comes to health, seems more unreliable than ever.

1. The doctor cannot be replaced by the web

We've all been there: a sudden pain or a small bout of hypochondria, and off to the smartphone to try to formulate a possible diagnosis. The truth is that diagnoses are a very complicated matter and that often even doctors have difficulty formulating a valid one.Relying on algorithms that return articles written by non-medical professionals is a terrible idea—and remember, even doctors would have difficulty making a diagnosis remotely, without a thorough examination and analysis.

2. Try to control hypochondria

When we experience a sudden or unaccustomed feeling of uneasiness, it's easy to think of serious and difficult-to-treat illnesses. The truth is that almost all of these events resolve themselves with little or no effort—there's no underlying pathology, much less a serious one, and there's no need for any treatment.Learning to control your hypochondria and knowing that the web can only increase it is another fundamental step to return to living a healthy and serene relationship with your body.

3. Never follow therapies found online

Just as it is impossible to make a diagnosis online, it is equally impossible to formulate a therapeutic path to follow. There are basically two hypotheses: either we have nothing and we do not need therapy, or we are suffering from a pathology that requires the attention of a specialist doctor. In both cases the web cannot help us.

4. Get informed, yes, but only from authoritative portals

Authoritative portals have a scientific editorial staff, have articles that are written following the standards of scientific ones and are published in precise and timely contexts.Try to learn to recognize authoritative portals, without forgetting that you can only turn to the Internet for purely informational purposes. You are not a doctor and often neither are the editors of the guides you find on the web.
