The general assembly of the CGIL Campania, meeting today at its Naples headquarters, elected the secretariat to work alongside Secretary General Nicola Ricci. With 60 percent of the votes cast, Ricci's proposal for a three-member secretariat, including Camilla Bernabei and Andrea Amendola, was approved. The president of the steering committee and the general assembly, composed of Vincenzo Delli Veneri (president) and Carmela Mollo and Domenico Sodano (vice presidents), was also elected. Tania Scacchetti of the CGIL national secretariat participated in the meeting. "The office elected today," stated CGIL Campania General Secretary Nicola Ricci, "is the result of a period of listening, discussion, and reflection with all the trade unions. We arrived at this proposal after a political discussion that acknowledged the entry, for our organization, into a new political and trade union phase. In this phase, CGIL Campania must recognize that the political perspective it faces must not be an end in itself, but must provide representation, involvement, and a central role to the trade unions and local communities."
