An inmate housed in the Torre Sinello prison in extensive was seriously injured this afternoon when a refillable camping gas cylinder exploded that he was using inside his cell. The man was hit directly by the explosion; he was promptly treated by the medical staff of the prison facility and was then transported by ambulance to the Emergency Room of the 'San Pio da Pietrelcina' hospital in Vasto where doctors performed the first aid. The 118 air ambulance also landed on the runway on Viale Paul Harris to be used for a possible transfer to the Burns Centre of the Cardarelli in Napoli to then set off again empty in the direction of Pescara.
