The prompt intervention of a yachtsman, who immediately informed the Coast Guard, averted the worst and allowed the animal to be freed from the plastic and recovered in the port of Forio.
The Coast Guard immediately organized the transport of the Caretta Caretta turtle to the Marine Turtle Research Center of the Anrton Dohrn Zoological Station in Portici, where specialized personnel provided first aid and ascertained the presence of some small traumas that will be promptly treated by the same center, with the hope that the animal will likely be able to return to the sea very soon.
Thanks to the prompt intervention of the boater who did not hesitate to dive in to free the turtle, it was possible to avoid yet another event of marine animals being found lifeless due to plastic.
