Naples. “We consider the investigation by the Naples DDA into the relationship between the Camorra and neomelodic singers to be extremely useful, which, according to the statements of some informants, would be based on the laundering of racketeering and drug proceeds on the artistic activity of singers. The investigative activity will serve to clarify a world that often presents dark hues. There are various songs that praise fugitives and criminals and, in some cases, neomelodic singers have even been arrested for Camorra crimes”. This is what the regional councillor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli says. “Obviously it is not right to criminalise the entire artistic scene but it is useless to hide the fact that there is collusion between some circles of neomelodic music and criminal organisations. Often neomelodic singers perform in 'serenades', organised on the occasion of weddings and engagement parties, blocking traffic in entire neighbourhoods. It is time for the State to reclaim the territory, countering this type of display that generates discomfort for the citizens".
