"Topolino Canova and the Poetic Spark," the story that, on the occasion of Comicon, links Naples, Mickey Mouse, and the exhibition at the National Archaeological Museum dedicated to Canova. The story is by Neapolitan Blasco Pisapia, who was the protagonist of a panel discussion at Comicon today: "Revisiting literary works or the careers of great artists," he explains, "has been part of Mickey Mouse's tradition since the days of "L'inferno," still one of the most well-known and reprinted stories. In this vein, we decided to feature Canova during the exhibition in Naples to intrigue and educate young people and encourage them to continue their exploration of the artist at the MANN. In the story, Mickey Mouse Canova encounters the masterpieces of Herculaneum and Pompeii for the first time and receives a decisive input, a poetic spark, in fact, that will be crucial in the creation of one of his most famous works." The story, set in 1787, recounts the journey that Mickey Mouse Canova takes to Naples with his friend and colleague Pippin Hamilton. Here, Mickey Mouse Canova hopes to emerge from the creative crisis gripping him, from which he emerges by creating his masterpiece, Cupid and Psyche. "We are proud to combine entertainment and culture on the pages of Mickey Mouse," explains Davide Catenacci, editor-in-chief of Comics at Panini Spa. "It's our tradition, which great authors and magnificent characters make possible every week, thanks to the accessible medium of comics." Mickey Mouse Canova and the Poetic Spark will be published in Mickey Mouse issue no. 3310, on newsstands starting May 1st. The initiative is part of the OBVIA (Out Of Boundaries Viral Art Dissemination) project, conceived for the MANN by the University of Naples "Federico II." "The project," explains Daniela Savy, from Federico II University and head of the Obvia project, "is aimed at young people, to whom we aim to share the works and exhibitions at the MANN beyond physical barriers. The MANN has chosen the Mickey Mouse brand to represent and support it in this adventure, which involves a multidisciplinary team with the Federico II and Vanvitelli Universities, assisting the MANN in promoting its image."
