Political-mafia electoral exchange, extortion, private violence and threats, all aggravated by the mafia method. These are the serious accusations leveled by the DDA of Salerno against Franco Alfieri, candidate for mayor of the Democratic Party in Capaccio Paestum and advisor to the governor De Luca for hunting, fishing and agriculture. The hypotheses of crime emerge from the search warrant carried out yesterday by the DIA of Salerno, directed by Colonel Giulio Pini, against the former chief of staff of De Luca. An investigative framework arising from the investigations into the alleged Marotta clan of Agropoli. The gypsy gang had been overwhelmed by the investigation of the ROS Carabinieri of Salerno, which resulted in a blitz of 25 precautionary measures in November. Of that investigation, the Alfieri affair is a connection, arising from a buck-passing between the prosecutors of Vallo della Lucania and Salerno. In the context of the latest affair, the current mayor of Agropoli, Adamo Coppola, is also under investigation for political-mafia electoral exchange. And like his predecessor Alfieri, the mayor was the target of searches in his home and offices, concluded only late at night. It is a complex web of jurisdictional competences and pronouncements, still without definitive sentences, on the alleged mafia-like nature of the Marotta-Cesarulos. Originally, a character not recognized in these Roma families, by the investigating judge of Salerno, who had sent the documents to Vallo della Lucania. The presence of some profiles of interest, however, had led the Cilento prosecutor's office to send some papers to the DDA. The "shuttle" between judicial offices, therefore, had produced the opening of an anti-Camorra file, entrusted to the prosecutor Roberto Montemurro. Moreover, the new clues do not come from statements by collaborators of justice. Now the investigators are focusing on the chapter of infiltration in the municipality of Agropoli, where Alfieri was mayor for ten years, until 2017. Investigations that, if found, could lead to the sending of a prefectural access commission. Four administrators of Agropoli – including Alfieri – two years ago were definitively convicted by the Court of Auditors, for damages to the treasury for a total of 40 thousand euros. A proceeding initiated for the failure to use some confiscated assets. Properties taken by the State from the Marottas, and illegally reoccupied by some of its members. Meanwhile, on the day in which the reform of the crime of political-mafia electoral exchange arrives in the Senate, with higher penalties, the M5S is once again asking for the withdrawal of Alfieri's candidacy. "Faced with an accusation of this nature - we read on the Blog delle stelle - we ask ourselves why the Democratic Party remains silent. Do you remember who Franco Alfieri was? The most loyal follower of the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca, who hit the headlines in the national news for what was called the 'fried fish pact'?
