Safe Schools: The Ministry of the Interior has released data on drug seizures in Italian schools. 13,4 kg of marijuana, hashish, cocaine, heroin, and ecstasy were seized. This is one of the results of the Safe Schools project launched last year in 15 provincial capitals (Bari, Bologna, Catania, Florence, Genoa, Messina, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Padua, Rome, Turin, Trieste, Venice, and Verona), with €2,5 million allocated by the Ministry of the Interior for safety. 340 schools were involved, and over 17 officers, including local police and law enforcement, were deployed to combat drug dealing in front of schools. 21 people were arrested and 33 people were reported. 700 fines were issued. Nearly 8.000 dedicated services were provided. This is the result, explains the Ministry of the Interior, which concludes the first experimental phase. In the 2019/2020 call for proposals, the Safe Schools operation will be extended to 100 municipalities, already identified and required to submit their projects by the end of May. Over €4 million has been allocated for them.
