Late yesterday afternoon, in Afragola, the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Castello di Cisterna located and arrested the fugitive Giuseppe Monfregolo, 31 years old, recipient of two orders of precautionary custody in prison issued by the Judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Naples at the request of the local DDA
The fugitive, considered the leader of the Camorra group known as the “167 of Arzano”, an offshoot of the Amato-Pagano clan of Naples and hegemonic in the municipality of Arzano and in the surrounding areas, is held responsible for extortion aggravated by mafia methods committed against Arzano shopkeepers between 2015 and 2017.
The complex investigative activity, coordinated by the Deputy Prosecutor Dr. Giuseppe Borrelli, by the Deputy Prosecutors Dr. Vincenza Marra and Dr. Maria Sepe of the DDA of Naples and conducted by the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Castello di Cisterna, made it possible to locate the place where the fugitive had found refuge, in Afragola.
The operation was completed late yesterday afternoon when investigators were now certain of the fugitive's presence inside a house located in the town centre, where the fugitive was found in the company of a 42-year-old woman who was later reported at large because she had facilitated his fugitive status.
Giuseppe Monfregolo had been a fugitive since November 2017 when he evaded the execution of an arrest warrant issued by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office - DDA, as he was deemed responsible for extortion against an entrepreneur on behalf of the Camorra group "167 di Arzano" of which Monfregolo is believed to be the leader.
The fugitive also evaded a second measure, a custodial order issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Naples at the request of the local DDA in March 2018 for various extortions committed by Monfregolo against entrepreneurs and traders of Arzano, always in favor of the Camorra group of the "167 of Arzano". The arrested person was locked up in the Naples-Secondigliano Penitentiary Center where he is at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
