Famous for having witnessed the murder of its owner in its rooms, the splendid Baronial Palace of Prata Principato Ultra will once again shine for "Ai Tiempi ro Barone – ZamagnaDies," an event scheduled from Friday, June 21st to Sunday, June 23rd in Prata Principato Ultra (Avellino). This event will allow visitors to relive the ancient glories of the times of Baron Zamagna, blending art, entertainment, history, and legend. The Baronial Palace, once owned by the Zamagna family, originally from Dubrovnik, Croatia, and prominent members of the Prato aristocracy, to which the event is symbolically linked, will open its doors for the sixth edition of the event, promoted by the Municipality of Prata Principato Ultra and funded by the Campania Region as part of the Regional Program of events for the promotion of tourism and the cultural enhancement of the territories. The event, under the artistic direction of Roberto D'Agnese, benefits from the long-standing support of the Panta Rei association. From June 21st to 23rd, alongside the region's tradition, art, and culinary excellence, the historic center will be the center of attention with Baron Savino Zamagna and the story of his tragic end. The baron met his death in his palace, one night when—according to contemporary legend—he wanted to exercise the right of the first night, the feudal lord's right to sleep with the bride of one of his subjects for the first night. This proved fatal: Zamagna was killed by Gianlorenzo la Monica, who wanted to protect his young daughter-in-law from the archaic feudal custom, disguising himself as a bride and waiting for the baron in his nuptial bed to treacherously stab him. The event features numerous innovations, including the inclusion of new spaces and a renowned artistic cast that will revive the region's cultural sites, but also includes a special emphasis on the social significance of women's rights. The Palazzo's rooms will also host a large photography exhibition featuring 270 original photographs from the First World War, taken on the battlefield and drawn from Dentice Pantaleone's private collection. Performances by the La Fermata theater company will recreate scenes from the aristocratic life of the time and the tragic moment of the Baron's assassination. The event will open on Friday, June 21st at 8:30 pm with a concert by Beta Folk 2.0, followed by a stunning performance by Mujura and Voci del Sud, directed by Eugenio Bennato. The Palazzo's main hall will feature performances of 19th-century dance and 17th-century Playford dances, curated by the Il Contrapasso association and the La Fermata theater company.
