The fourteenth edition of Le Conversazioni, the international literature festival conceived by Antonio Monda and Davide Azzolini, arrives in Italy with the opening of the meetings in Rome, continuing with the debut in Naples and with the usual appointment in Capri. “Prejudice” is the 2019 theme, on which guests are invited to converse and discuss, interviewed by Antonio Monda.
On June 18 and 19, at the new Palazzo Merulana space (Via Merulana, 121) in Rome, there will be two meetings with Italian figures from the worlds of art, theater, and literature: Susanna Tamaro and Annalena Benini (June 18 at 7:00 pm) and Francesco Vezzoli in conversation with Piera Degli Esposti (June 19 at 7:00 pm). The great writer Salman Rushdie will inaugurate the debut of Le Conversazioni a NAPOLI at the Madre – Donnaregina Contemporary Art Museum of the Campania Region on Friday, June 21 at 7:00 pm, as well as the new partnership with the Donnaregina Foundation for Contemporary Arts. The author, interviewed by Antonio Monda, will discuss the 2019 festival theme, "Prejudice," and will share his insights with the audience through films, books, places, historical figures, and music of his choosing. The festival continues in Capri over the two weekends of June 28, 29, 30 and July 5, 6 and 7. This year too, the appointment will be at sunset in the evocative setting of Piazzetta Tragara, at 7:00 pm, with the 2019 guests of this always highly anticipated stage of the festival: Marisa Silver, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Amitav Ghosh, Andrew Sean Greer, Leslie Jamison, Howard Jacobson will take turns in conversations with Antonio Mondae in reading on “Prejudice”, the common thread of this fourteenth edition. On the occasion of the Capri events, an anthology of unpublished texts by writers on this year’s theme, Prejudice, will be published and distributed to the public. They will be read by the authors themselves at the opening of each event. Admission to the meetings in Rome, Naples and Capri is free until all available seats are filled. The fourteenth edition of Le Conversazioni opened in New York last May with Daniel Libeskind, Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig, protagonists of the meetings at the New York Historical Society and the Morgan Library & Museum.
