“We continue to receive dozens of reports about the inconveniences that citizens are forced to face due to the delays denied to waste collection. The piles are present in various points of the capital, such as Ponticelli, where there are serious critical issues near the Palavesuvio which will soon host the Universiade competitions. Among other things, the first acts of vandalism such as fires and overturning of bins are starting to be recorded. The crisis, according to what has been reported to us, is also proving problematic for those who deal with collection. Interminable queues of street cleaning vehicles are present near the Stir. The drivers are forced to remain for hours under the sun, among bad smells, insects and rats. Our monitoring activity continues without stopping in the institutional offices. In the meantime, we welcome with satisfaction the news of the assignment of the tender for the construction of the composting site in Pomigliano. We will monitor the project and the implementation times with the utmost attention. Everything must be up to standard and, above all, there must be no emissions that are annoying for residents”. This is what the regional councillor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the spokesperson of Sole che Ride in Campania Vincenzo Peretti say. “As far as we are concerned – Borrelli and Peretti add – we must continue along the path of the 2015 waste plan. We reiterate our 'no' to new incinerators and landfills, the waste cycle in Campania must be characterised by an increase in separate waste collection and the creation of biocomposting plants”.
