A very special event with a fascinating mix of Bel Canto, music, history and archaeology, what awaits spectators on June 29, 2019 at Castel Nuovo Maschio Angioino: the lyrical Recital dedicated to the repertoire of Neapolitan and Italian Bel Canto, increasingly considered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, from the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century of the Belle Époque, with the most beautiful salon romances, duets, the immortal pages of operetta and opera that in Naples had such an echo and resonance with the references and roots in the Neapolitan cultural tradition of classical Neapolitan song. The city of the Siren Partenope, singing, music were evidently in the genetic code since its mythological origin, so much so that from the sixteenth century onwards Naples has been a point of reference in Europe for the development of musical art and Bel Canto. Music full of sunshine" was defined by the musician Cimarosa, a vivid image of what was the vitality, the sweetness of the melodies that expressed the sun of Naples and southern Italy, what indisputably and unequivocally defined itself as one of the world capitals of music from the golden age of the eighteenth-century Neapolitan school. The universality of the song is exemplary. 'O sole mio to witness the worldwide success of Neapolitan melodies, loved and performed by the greatest opera singers in history, first and foremost Enrico Caruso, towards whom his hometown was unjustly stingy with success. To experience the emotions of discovery, the guided tour, proposed by the Timeline Cultural Association, is entitled: Archeologia Sottosopra, an extraordinary journey through time, to discover the fortress of Castel Nuovo – Maschio Angioino. Crossing the triumphal arch, commissioned by Alfonso of Aragon, visitors await a great adventure among the Aragonese fortification works, from the monumental courtyard to the archaeological excavations of the Roman era, found in the basements until reaching the highest point of the castle.
