Everything is ready for the tenth anniversary of Hub Music Project, the Salerno Association, which since 2009 has brought international artists to the most evocative and historic places of Salerno. It is called “CALEIDOSCOPICA, Festival 2019”, the musical event branded HUB scheduled for July 17 and 18 at the Teatro dei Barbuti in Salerno. The two-day event is also made possible thanks to the patronage of the Municipality of Salerno and the support of Bottega San Lazzaro.
"Two evenings organized by those who know about music await us, in the pulsating heart of the historic center of Salerno - explained the councilor for commerce Dario Loffredo during the press conference - international sounds and enveloping atmospheres that will be difficult to forget. A project to be strongly promoted because it highlights the link between the liveliness of the proposal, the private initiative and the historical identity of the locations. I thank the organizers for the proposal that is also a positive impulse to tourism in our city that we are sure will respond greatly. Last year Hub Music Project returned home with just one date, this year it starts again with two, but we are confident in a longer Festival".
The idea of the Association, in agreement with the municipal administration, is to make Salerno a point of reference with a summer festival dedicated to music of international appeal that can bring together cultures from all over the world in the city.
"Ten years ago we "invented" the Eremo dello Santo Spirito in Capriglia, a beautiful structure that hosted us for years and that we will always carry in our hearts, then we went to Forte La Carnale, Villa Guariglia - explained Gianluigi Palamone of Hub Music Project - and last year we tested the Barbuti space, in the awareness that the city lacks a location that is predisposed to musical events. But the enthusiasm that distinguishes us pushes us to move forward and imagine a hypothetical "Salerno Musica Festival". Our association is an experience of strong friendship and great ambition regarding the ability, from nothing, to create musical events in the area. We have a curriculum behind us that when we look back on it almost seems impossible to have managed to do so much and that at the same time allows us to look to the future and imagine new challenges".
The tenth anniversary celebrations will be opened by Nu Guinea, on the stage of the Teatro dei Barbuti on Wednesday 17 July. «It was the duo, a name of absolute appeal in the new panorama of Neapolitan and Italian music, on tour in Japan, America and France – added Giuseppe Riccio of Hub – who embraced the philosophy of Hub Music Project and chose it as the Italian stage for one of their highly sought-after dates». Trained in Naples and now based in Berlin, they create sounds influenced by the idea of an exotic, perhaps imaginary, place, the result of constant musical research into the past. Their path can be defined as a historical investigation into “dancefloor” music in its purest sense. The key is the contamination between musical genres born from the encounter between different cultures and populations. The project was born from the idea of jam sessions, fusions between electronic synthesizers and traditional instruments, characterized by a sound that does not aim for perfection, but for “genuineness” and that can be understood as a constantly changing form.
The following day, Thursday 18th July, the stage under the stars will instead welcome Maisha, a London collective symbol of a phenomenon of jazz music of great evolution. Their sound is clearly jazz-inspired but is contaminated by world music as well as that r&b that in recent years has been influencing both hip hop and pop.
USEFUL INFO: both concerts will start at 21 pm. The ticket price for Nu Guinea is 22 euros, the entrance ticket for Maisha is 12 euros. Hub Music Project also offers the possibility of a combination for both dates at a cost of 29 euros. (excluding any presale rights).
