E' the sentence reduction has arrived in the appeal trial for Antonio Paciolla, alias “'o russ”, considered by investigators to be linked to the Puca clan. The sentences that had been issued in the first instance against Francesco Bellomo, Antimo Di Biase and Claudio Lamino, alias “'o mericano”, the latter a collaborator of justice, were confirmed. Before the third section of the Court of Appeal of Naples, presided over by judge Eugenia Del Balzo, the only appeal accepted was the one drawn up for Antonio Paciolla, defended by the lawyer Dario Vannetiello, whose sentence went from the 8 years received with the first instance sentence, which had been issued with an abbreviated procedure by the investigating judge Anna Tirone, to 6 years and 8 months. A substantial sentence reduction was received by Paciolla who, according to the prosecution's hypothesis, would have played the role of collecting extortion in the municipalities of Sant'Antimo, Grumo Nevano and Casavatore. Confirmed, however, the sentences that had been issued in the first instance against Francesco Bellomo, who received 11 years and 8 months, Antimo Di Biase (6 years and 10 months) and finally Claudio Lamino: the latter, a collaborator of justice, will have to serve a sentence of 3 years and 4 months of imprisonment. While waiting to know the reasons for the sentence, which will be filed within the next 45 days, it should be emphasized that the prosecutor had requested confirmation of the first instance sentences for all. The charges are of having participated in a criminal association called the Puca clan, operating in Sant'Antimo, Grumo Nevano, Casandrino and neighboring municipalities. Against the defendants were the statements of the repentants Vincenzo and Antonio Marrazzo, Raffaele Tixon, Lamino himself and above all the statements made by the former alleged clan leader, Pasquale Puca.
