Circolo Savoia was a key player in the Italian Rowing Championships held on Lake Varese. The historic Neapolitan club on the Santa Lucia quay won seven Italian titles: four overall, one junior, and two para rowing. Specifically, they were crowned Italian champions in the men's double sculls, a discipline with a long tradition in Campania, as evidenced by the triumphs of the Abbagnale brothers. The winner was the crew of Antonio Greco and Antonio Zaffiro, coxed by Umberto Zizolfi, who beat another Campanian club, Circolo Nautico Stabia. Over 1000 athletes from clubs across Italy participated in the championships, organized by the Italian Rowing Federation. Campanian clubs with long traditions in the discipline were well represented: Savoia, Canottieri NAPOLI, Circolo Posillipo, Circolo Italia, and Circolo Stabia.
