The man, shot in the back and face, was transported to San Leonardo Hospital in Castellammare with non-life-threatening injuries. According to an initial reconstruction, the two young men and the businessman came to blows and, before leaving, the two men mounted a scooter. One of them pulled out a gun and fired at least twice at the businessman. Carabinieri and police responded to the scene, finding the street deserted at 6:30 PM, a time when it's usually packed with shops and bars, which are popular at any time of day. Terrified shopkeepers locked themselves inside, waiting for the police to arrive. A stampede broke out among the crowd of shoppers, as the loud argument and brawl inside the store had already created panic. Then the gunshots and the bleeding man in the street increased the fear in the city center. When police arrived, they found the victim standing with a grazed wound to his back. The shopkeeper, a resident of the CMI district of Castellammare di Stabia, also had another wound to his face, likely a result of the argument with the two young men. The shop where the fight occurred is called "Cherie Moda," and the man is the owner, although it is managed by his daughter. The injured man was taken to the San Leonardo Hospital by 118 ambulance. He is currently in surgery, but his life is not in danger. The businessman has a criminal record and a long criminal record. The Carabinieri are investigating to reconstruct the cause of the argument that culminated in the shooting.
