At Napoli Centrale, the patrols of the Railway Police, present at the checkpoints during a security operation, stopped a thirty-five-year-old with multiple criminal records who had been subject to a house arrest order issued by the Salerno surveillance court, which was carried out after completing the formal procedures. Seven people are under investigation. Three for crimes ranging from threats to resistance to insulting public officials and refusing to provide information on personal identity. A Neapolitan was caught after stealing magazines from a commercial establishment in Napoli Centrale station; an illegal vendor was investigated for attempted corruption because, in order to avoid an administrative fine and the seizure of his merchandise, he offered money to the police officers who had stopped him; another criminal was reported for attempted fraud because he was caught offering for sale cartons of cigarettes, inside which there were actually polystyrene and metal nails and finally a Neapolitan, also a multiple criminal, was reported for illegal gambling or betting, after a tourist reported that she had been forced by the man to bet 50 euros at the “campelle” game in Piazza Garibaldi in Naples, 13 illegal vendors caught bothering travellers were fined and given an order to leave the Naples station.
