Starting today, the Naples municipal police force has acquired 81 new Fiat Tipo vehicles equipped with cutting-edge radio equipment. This complete mobile radio system, comprising infrastructure and terminals in DMR Tier II technology operating in Dual Mode (analog and digital), is available for a 30-month lease. It includes: a broadcast system consisting of three base stations located at three different sites throughout the city; a radio link interconnection system between the base stations and the central station; two-way radio terminals consisting of 220 portables, 50 vehicle-mounted devices, and 50 kits for use on motorcycles; and the provision and installation of radio, IT, and recording equipment. This equipment arrives just days before the start of the Universiade. The system allows officers to maintain highly efficient, two-way communication with the central station, ensuring voice and data availability; and the control, supervision, recording, and playback of calls and radio communications; and the reproduction of data for the geolocation of mobile terminals. "We've been waiting for 30 years for these technologies to connect municipal vehicles to headquarters via radio," said Mayor Luigi de Magistris. "It's a goal we strongly supported because equipping ourselves with a high level of technology and efficiency means greater safety, effectiveness, and consistency, as well as greater coordination between forces in the field." The mayor hopes to add new resources to these new vehicles and technology. The Ministry of the Interior's Commission is expected to approve the hiring of various positions, including municipal police officers, tomorrow. The contract includes routine, extraordinary, and upgradeable maintenance for all equipment, systems, and hardware and software components of the system. Great satisfaction was expressed by the commander of the local police, Ciro Esposito, and the responsible councilor, Alessandra Clemente, who emphasized "the administration's efforts during a difficult time for local authorities." Training courses, technical support, and tutoring are planned for the dedicated personnel. Regarding the cars, 70 will be painted in the colors of the municipal police, while the remainder will be unmarked and intended for plainclothes service. The presentation was also attended by Sabrina Vescosi, general manager of Eurocom Telecomunicazioni srl; Stefano Solfaroli Camillocci, CEO of FCA Fleet & Tenders (Fiat), who emphasized the suitability of the Fiat model for local police services; and Dario Cerrutti, sales director of LeasePlan Italia spa, the company from which the cars are leased through a Consip agreement.
