“For more than 10 years, the Maddalena forest in Casamicciola, one of the most evocative green lungs of the island of Ischia, has been violated by the presence of the foundations of the Forestry barracks that was never built. Behind the barracks affair there are a series of reckless decisions, starting in the mid-nineties, which led to the clearing of a wooded area, with dozens of trees cut down, to build a structure that, then, never saw the light of day. Now the foundations are there, to bear witness to man's violence against nature. The legal case ended with the acquittals of the defendants but, we underline, the real problem - that of the eyesore - has not been addressed”. This was denounced by the regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the commissioner of the Sole che Ride for the island of Ischia Mariarosaria Urraro who have decided to start a public protest with photos on social media and popular petitions to obtain the restoration of the places. "Now, after many years, the time has come to address the issue definitively. We have asked the Ministry of Infrastructure to restore the state of the places, eliminating the structure and replanting the trees. Where there is concrete today, there must be greenery again."
