Prisoner of Scampia graduates with 110 cum laude in Communication Sciences at the University of Pisa

His name is Ciro De Gregorio, he is now 39 years old and has been in prison for nine years. Originally from Scampia, he was sentenced to over 14 years in prison for drug trafficking. He is being held in the Livorno prison and the other day he graduated with 110 cum laude from the University of Pisa in Entertainment and Communication Sciences. “My brother is a living testimony of how, despite mistakes and prison, you can always improve in life,” says his sister with pride, who attended the graduation session together with many family members, the educators of the penitentiary police, the director of the Livorno prison, Carlo Mazzerbo, the guarantor of prisoners Giovanni De Peppo, the supervisor Veronica Nieri, together with the professors who are members of the degree commission. De Gregorio discussed the complex thesis entitled “Digital natives and the network. Consequences and ethical possibilities opened up by social networks”. He was awarded the highest marks and cum laude and with final applause.
