SThe autopsy will clarify the causes of death of the prisoner Angelo Serra, 38 years old from Caivano, who died during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday in the prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere. Probably a heart attack that left him no chance. The man, who would have been released next year, did not suffer from any pathology. His cellmates were the ones who noticed his death in the morning. Attempts to revive him were useless. An investigation has been opened into his death. He had been arrested last year for a robbery committed near the Royal Palace of Caserta while he was subjected to the preventive measure of special surveillance with the obligation to reside in the municipality of residence. Pietro loia, an activist for the rights of prisoners through the association Ex Detenuti Organizzati Napoletani (Ex Don), intervened in the case, publishing on his Facebook profile the last letter sent from inside the prison by Angelo Serra to his boss. “Angelo died in the prison built on a landfill, in the prison where mosquitoes eat you alive, in the prison where there has never been drinking water, the prison of tumors, in the face of human dignity”. Samuele Ciambriello, Campania guarantor of prisoners, also comments: “You cannot die in prison and in jail. It is unacceptable”.
