The ferry that ran aground while maneuvering in the port of Ischia has been refloated. Two long cables, one from the bow and one from the stern, were connected to the "Marcus Aurelius Roundel," a stone structure in the center of the port, and to a buoy located in the center of the port, allowing the ship to emerge from the shallows. All this was done under the watchful eye of Coast Guard units led by Commander Andrea Meloni. The port, temporarily closed for operations, will be reopened as soon as possible. The ship will be held in Ischia for technical inspections.
