The Napoli Teatro Festival Italia, directed by Ruggero Cappuccio, continues today, Sunday, June 30, with the debut at the Teatro Trianon-Viviani at 21 pm of the show Leonardo and the Dove – A Timeless Circus, conceived and directed by Ted Keijser and co-produced by Pantakin CircoTeatro, Baracca dei Buffoni, and the Operaestate Festival of Bassano. A work on the work of Leonardo Da Vinci, in particular on his inventions linked to the dream of flying (repeat Monday 1 July at 19 pm). Again at 21 pm in the Cortile delle Carrozze of Palazzo Reale, for the Observatory Fausto Doktore will be staged, freely inspired by The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe, with Diletta Acanfora, Michele Danubio, Federica Sandrini, Massimo De Matteo, Ivano Schiavi, directed by Antonio Speranza and Ario Avecone and dramaturgy and adaptation by Raffaele Speranza. For the Special Projects section, at Rione De Gasperi at 21 pm, the Festival presents Foodistribution | Amnistia, a site-specific show, born in dialogue with the laboratory on light held by Daniele Ciprì and Davide Scognamiglio. The theatrical work directed by Adriana Follieri involves the direct involvement of the population that currently lives in the Rione De Gasperi of Ponticelli. The Amalfi Cathedral (SA), starting at 21 pm, will be animated by the notes of the musical show Il viaggio di Neaco', directed by Antonio Carluccio and Aldo Perris, with the Piccola Orchestra Neaco'. This fable in the form of a concert was born from the intuition of Antonio Carluccio, Luigi Carbone, Giovanni Imparato and Aldo Perris, as the narration of a journey undertaken by a Neapolitan percussionist, who abandons his city and family, travelling the world to extinguish the demons of his restlessness. Repeat at 19 pm at the Teatro Nuovo, Knives in the Hens, a play by the award-winning Scottish playwright David Harrower, directed by Andrée Ruth Shammah, with Eva Riccobono, Alberto Astorri, Pietro Micci; at 20 pm at the Teatro Politeama, Kanata – Episode I – La controverse, with the actors of the Théâtre du Soleil directed by Robert Lepage. In the Romantic Garden at 22.30pm the Dramaturgy for Cinema series continues, curated by Roberto D'Avascio for Arci Movie, which presents Black Mass – The Last Gangster by Scott Cooper. The guest of the evening will be Giovanna De Luca, director of the Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival of Charleston (USA). For the Italian section, at the Teatro Trianon-Viviani at 21 pm, Leonardo and the Dove – A Timeless Circus will be performed, a show co-produced by Pantakin CircoTeatro, Baracca dei Buffoni and Operaestate Festival of Bassano. Created and directed by Ted Keijser, the cast includes Laura Bernocchi, Orazio de Rosa, Benoit Roland, Simone Romanò, Emanuele Pasqualini, while the costumes are by Pina Sorrentino. Five hundred years after the death of one of the greatest Italian and world geniuses, the idea was born to create a poetic and circus show to tell above all the most human aspect of Leonardo da Vinci. An artist scientist who placed man and his physical fragility at the centre of his thinking and research, showing the great strength of his ingenuity and his ability to imagine, to see beyond. This Leonardo was born again but this time not in Vinci but in Mirano and, like the Tuscan genius, he was driven by great curiosity and the desire to make a dream come true: to fly. Repeat on July 1st at 19pm. Also at 21 pm is the show of the Osservatorio section, Fausto Doktore, freely inspired by The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe, with Diletta Acanfora, Michele Danubio, Federica Sandrini, Massimo De Matteo, Ivano Schiavi, directed by Antonio Speranza and Ario Avecone and dramaturgy and adaptation by Raffaele Speranza. The Tragic Tale of Doctor Faustus, believed to be the first theatrical representation of the Faustian legend, tells the story of the scholar Faustus and his desire to overcome human limitations by making a pact with the devil Mephistopheles by selling his soul. In Marlowe's work, the struggle between good and evil is fundamental, a dimension also maintained in Raffaele Speranza's rewriting, which sets the story in a perverse game, where good and evil are represented by the presence or absence of hope for salvation for man. The tragic story of Doctor Faust unfolds within these ideal walls: on the operating table, which dominates the centre of the scene, he will see his first patient die and will be unable to do anything to save her. Only thanks to the intervention of Father Mephisto, a priest/doctor, will Faust have the chance to choose whether or not to use a miracle drug that cures all evils in exchange for his own life. Alongside Doctor Fausto, his antagonist, also a doctor but unable to see beyond his own nose; and also Magda, a woman who cannot have children due to a genetic disease; and a Pope, Fausto's uncle, ruthless and ironic. The music of maestro Mimmo Napolitano will comment on the highlights of the show in the style of German Kabarett. As part of the Festival's Special Projects, at 21 pm in Rione De Gasperi, Foodistribution | Amnistia will be performed, a show directed by Adriana Follieri, born in dialogue with the laboratory on light held by Daniele Ciprì and Davide Scognamiglio. The theatrical work, starting from the direct involvement of the population that currently lives in the Rione De Gasperi of Ponticelli, is characterized as a site-specific staging. Foodistribution | Amnistia is proposed as a multidisciplinary reflection on the evolution of places and the meaning attributed to them: already realized in the 2018 edition of the NTFI and concluded with the lighting of Vico dei Maiorani, this year Foodistribution makes use of the contribution of scientific research in urban studies conducted by Emiliano Esposito and is enriched by the theatrical component curated by Adriana Follieri. The event of June 30 was preceded by two artistic/practical workshops: Luce (June 10-19), which starting from the geography of the places, involves some of the most important Italian directors of photography and which ended with the creation of the lighting design for the show Amnistia, born from the Teatro Sociale e di Comunità workshop (June 15-29), curated by Adriana Follieri. At 21 pm at the Amalfi Cathedral, the Music section of the festival will be accompanied by Il viaggio di Neaco' – Favola in concert form, directed by Antonio Carluccio and Aldo Perris, which features the Piccola Orchestra Neaco' with Giovanni Imparato (percussion and vocals), Aldo Perris (bass and vocals), Luigi Carbone (keyboards, vocals and narrator), Antonio Carluccio (guitar and vocals), Mats Eric Hedberg (well-tempered guitar, e-bow and vocals), Davide Grottelli (recorder, transverse flute, clarinet, soprano sax and tenor sax), Anna Rita Di Pace (violin and vocals). The show was born from the intuition of Antonio Carluccio, Luigi Carbone, Giovanni Imparato and Aldo Perris, as a narration of a journey undertaken by a Neapolitan percussionist, who leaves his city and his family, travelling the world to extinguish the demons of his restlessness. On his journey, he brings a fragment of his Naples, contaminating it with the musical styles of each country he visits. The story begins when the son receives his father's travel diary and, through those writings, learns to know him and slowly learns to know the world as well. At the end of the journey (and of the diary), the father leaves a message to his son, whom he did not see grow up: he tells him about a Naples that he had sought throughout the world and about the discovery that the whole world was already in Naples. The pages of the diary paraphrase the most famous songs of our tradition, fused with the most significant songs and genres of the various places crossed by the protagonist. The musical project is not a simple musical fairy tale nor a stylistic exercise on Neapolitan song, but creates a total contamination of Neapolitan music with all the genres of the world. You can find 'A tazza 'e cafè in a reggae version, Indifferentemente becomes a tango, 'O sarracino remodelled as a funky, Dicitencello vuje is presented as a salsa, Te voglio bene assaje becomes a jazz piece and Lo guarracino becomes rap. In the Romantic Garden of Palazzo Reale at 22.30 pm, cinema is scheduled at the Dopofestival with the Drammaturgia per il cinema review, curated by Roberto D'Avascio for Arci Movie, which presents the film Black Mass – L'ultimo gangster by Scott Cooper. The guest of the evening will be Giovanna De Luca, director of the Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival of Charleston (USA).
