“La compagnia dell'indie” is the song of the summer by the unusual duo that unites north and south, singer-songwriter music and rap: the Campanian singer-songwriter Marco Iantosca and the Venetian rapper Hot Ice.
The song is extremely ironic and talks about the meeting between a singer-songwriter and a rapper who, despite being very different from each other, rediscover themselves as two sides of the same coin. In fact, between quotes and teasing, the scenario of today's independent music scene is described, which, clouded by talent, sponsorships and Spotify, seems to have no way out for anyone. This is precisely the “Indie Company”. An irreverent photograph, which takes up warhorses, old and new, to dismantle today's musical Star System, all supported by a fresh sound, with a strong summer flavour. There are different ways to read the song, which first of all represents a metaphor for everyday reality, where for us, distracted by social media and fears, "it is not the time to decide" and we often live by playlists and stereotypes, forgetting the sense of reality. The unusual and innovative artistic collaboration between Marco Iantosca and Hot Ice was born thanks to the meeting at the “Trapani Pop Festival” in 2017, where both were among the 10 best emerging artists selected in all of Italy. At the Sicilian festival, in fact, even though they come from profoundly different worlds and experiences, they decide to join forces and expand their musical horizons. Initially, “Controvento” will host Hot Ice and his bars, both live and in the Trapani Pop compilation. Subsequently the song was also accompanied by a video clip shot in Dallas with the prestigious direction of Gugu E. Michaels. From the originality and freshness of the mix between the two different musical genres and languages, the idea of writing together again and giving life to the project of the “Compagnia dell'indie” was developed. A collaboration that is not limited to this summer single: “La compagnia dell'indie”, in fact, acts as a forerunner to the album “Tra social e realtà”, the next album by Marco Iantosca, to be released at the beginning of 2020, in which the collaboration between the Irpinia singer-songwriter and the Venetian rapper Hot Ice will be proposed again. But many other musicians are involved, actively and passively, in the single “La compagnia dell'indie”. Among the "conscious" ones, many prestigious collaborations stand out: the drums are played by Pasquale "Kandyman" Tomasetta, former drummer of the rock band Malaparte, whose experience has been the linchpin of the entire production; on bass, electric guitars, keyboards, and arrangements is Simone Vignola, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who recently impressed on The Voice and is also one of the best emerging bassists on the national scene. It's also worth remembering that the single was recorded at "Sound Design" by Marco Ruggiero, who also handled the keyboards, mixing, and arrangements, while the mastering was by Roberto Romano. Mario Barbati, author and arranger, also collaborated, providing support in the studio throughout the recording process; and finally, Marco Iantosca himself, who, in addition to writing and arranging the song, also played the electric and acoustic guitars.
The artists who were passively involved are all mentioned in the text of the “Compagnia dell'indie”, such as: Thegiornalisti, Maria De Filippi, Elio e le storie tese, Cor Veleno, Ligabue with his “Vivo o morto o X”, Fabrizio De Andrè, Roberto Vecchioni, Coez and many other more or less famous quotes. The video was shot near Rieti, on the unique setting of the Salto lake. The direction is by Marko Carbone, a Roman born in 1990, who studied at the “Roberto Rossellini” Institute in Rome, and at the “New York Film Academy- Film&Acting School New York”. After various experiences in commercials, short films and music videos, the director worked for Rai during Andrea Bocelli's concert at the “Arena” in Verona and in several other shows. A production that saw the participation of some collaborators such as: Filippo Iovine, web development manager; Amerigo Falso, actor in “The light side of the Moon”; rapper Fever, who is releasing his first album. While waiting to sing and dance, let's meet the two authors of "La compagnia dell'indie".
Marco Iantosca is a singer-songwriter from Campania, specifically Irpinia, born in 82 who loves to mix different musical influences in a nostalgic and characteristic sound. His first recording project “Nascosto dentro me”, “Trb Rec” from 2016, is a work developed through languages and dynamics that vary from pop/rock to acoustic and psychedelia. A work that is the result of sound research enriched by live experience abroad and in particular in Venezuela and the United States. In February 2018, the new single entitled “Controvento” was released within the compilation “Trapani Pop Festival”, which collects the songs of ten emerging artists selected from all over Italy. “Controvento” is also the third official video clip shot in Dallas, with the first collaboration and participation of the rapper Hot Ice, directed by Gugu E. Michaels. Also for Gugu Michaels, Marco Iantosca is working on the soundtrack of the film “The Marine Spirit”, which will soon be shown in American theaters. Hot Ice, aka Giacomo Visintin, is a young rapper from Veneto and member of the hip hop crew “Brain Smokerz”. Born in 1991, Hot Ice has already built up a very respectable curriculum. He is the author of the song “Diversamente giovani” included in the soundtrack curated by Giovanni Errera for the film “Niente di serio” with Claudia Cardinale, Gianmarco Tognazzi, Nunzia Schiano, screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2018. In his career he has already shared the stage and opened concerts for artists of the caliber of Tormento, Rayden, Achille Lauro, Kiave, Inoki, Ensi, Lord Madness, Murubutu. The rapper from Veneto also boasts collaborations with Rayden, Raige, Mastafive in “Cuore Amore Determinazione” and with Jalisse, winners of the Sanremo Festival in 1997, in the song “4 Marzo”.
