A medium-sized mixed-breed dog was rescued today in the Episcopio hamlet in the Vasca area of Sarno. It was around 7 a.m. when some people engaged in sports noticed the animal in obvious distress. Frightened, it looked up as if calling for help. The group immediately rushed to help the four-legged friend. Using a ladder, a man and a woman, a volunteer from a local association, lowered themselves into the canal and rescued the poor animal. Like every summer, the spotlight turns on the phenomenon of abandoned dogs that quickly become strays. Findings of pregnant females, sick dogs and cats, pets given as Christmas presents, and more have been reported.
