From Naples to Salerno. From Sorrento to Pompeii, Paestum and Teggiano, in the Vallo di Diano. Teggiano is a small village in Campania, on the border with Basilicata. A medieval village included in the Unesco circuit, chosen by the cultural organization "Il Simposio delle Muse" for the closing of the artistic residence project "Grand Tour", which saw the international Sicilian photographer Giuseppe Leone as the protagonist.
"In Teggiano I found an overwhelming and composed beauty. A mysticism and a fervent silence. A care of places of ancient memory. I will gladly return to explore suggestive corners of a midday full of expectations and rich in treasures”, thus declares the artist from Ragusa.
Welcomed by the Councilor for Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Campania Region Corrado Matera, the photographer visited and photographed the Macchiaroli Castle and the beautiful Renaissance complex of the Pietà.
Accompanying him for this special project produced by the “Premio Penisola Sorrentina Arturo Esposito”® the patron Mario Esposito, the Buonalbergo artist Peppe Leone (responsible for the project) and the reporter Emanuela Alfano, the maestro's assistant for a long time.
Giuseppe Leone is the greatest visual narrator of Sicily (his publications with Leonardo Sciascia, Vincenzo Consolo and Gesualdo Bufalino).
For the first time he arrived in Campania for a photographic journey that – in an entire week – took him from Sorrento, to Piano di Sorrento, to Naples, to Pompeii, to Salerno, to Paestum until concluding right in Teggiano, in the Vallo di Diano.
The Maestro's photos in Campania will be destined for a special institutional publication curated and published by the "Penisola Sorrentina" Award.
