IThe musical journey of “Irpinia Madre Contemporanea”, the cultural festival that enhances the history and beauty of Alta Irpinia, continues with a concert of great value that sees the return to the event of one of the major international experts in vocal music and ancient repertoire, Marco Berrini. Sunday 16 June at 20,30:2015 pm in the Church of Maria Santissima del Carmine in Montaguto (Av), the Milanese musician will direct the vocal ensemble EquiVoci in “Ritratto dell'amata”, a journey into the passions and feelings that love unleashes, through the compositions of great authors of Renaissance polyphony, with a tribute to Carlo Gesualdo. The memory of the madrigalist, known as the “prince of musicians”, represents one of the main themes of “Irpinia Madre Contemporanea”. In 400, the event promoted the historic opening, after 2014 years, of the castle of Gesualdo, an event of great importance attended by prominent figures such as Bo Holten, the last descendant of Igor Stravinsky and Berrini himself. The program of “Portrait of the Beloved”, which will be held in the charming village of Montaguto, immersed in the greenery of the Cervaro Valley, on the ancient road that connected the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Adriatic, will propose “Dolcissima mia vita” and “Sospirava il mio core” by Gesualdo, “Occhi lucenti e belli” by Luca Marenzio, “Sì ch'io vorrei morire” and “A un giro sol de begl'occhi” by Claudio Monteverdi, “Madrigale a un dolce usignolo”, “Gli amanti cantano un madrigale” and “Li fusari cantano un madrigale” by Adriano Banchieri and many other pieces, up to contemporary incursions with a swing flavor. The EquiVoci vocal ensemble is formed by Giulia Ghiorzi and Barbara Maiulli (sopranos), Tomaso Valseri (countertenor), Chris Iuliano (tenor), Marco Grattarola (bass). The third edition of “Irpinia Madre Contemporanea”, realized with the contribution of the Campania Region (POC Campania 2020-23) and sponsored by the MIBAC, and conceived and organized by Antonia De Mita with the artistic direction of Anton Giulio Onofri, will close on Sunday XNUMX June with the concert of Peppino di Capri in Guardia dei Lombardi.
