Foggia. As part of an anti-gangmaster operation, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Carabinieri of Foggia have executed a house arrest order against two agricultural entrepreneurs from the Foggia area. The two are accused of exploiting irregular labor. Furthermore, for the first time in Capitanata, the agricultural company of the two entrepreneurs has been placed under judicial control. It extends over an area of about 50 hectares and - according to investigators - supplies fruit and vegetables to important agri-food companies. About thirty laborers were found to be irregular workers in the company. According to investigators, four or five containers used by the two entrepreneurs as makeshift accommodation for the agricultural workers were also seized inside the company. These are dilapidated homes in terrible hygienic-sanitary conditions where - according to investigators - migrants were literally crammed.
