“Dozens of cancelled journeys and travel times destined to become biblical, for journeys on board vehicles that do not comply with safety requirements. This is what those who travel on Eav group trains will face starting next July 1st. Due to the total inefficiency of De Luca and the head of the company that manages regional transport De Gregorio, by that date the company that manages Circumvesuviana, Circumflegrea, Cumana and Metrocampania Ovest will not be able to comply with the requirements imposed by the National Agency for Railway Safety, guaranteed by the application of the train control system (Smct). Without this system, trains will be subject to a speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour. The inevitable result will be the automatic cancellation of many journeys and the choice for thousands of commuters to prefer cars for their journeys, with inevitable consequences for the environment and vehicular traffic. Slow trains and almost halved journeys, alongside the inconveniences and poor service that always characterise these trains, in the face of ticket prices that have risen by almost 50%”. This is what regional councillors of the 5 Star Movement Valeria Ciarambino and Tommaso Malerba, signatories of two questions to the regional council, and M5S senator Agostino Santillo, who has presented a question to the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, are denouncing.
"In response to our question time this morning in the Regional Council chamber - reveals Councilor Malerba - the council limited itself to illustrating the steps of a detailed program of future interventions planned for Eav carriers which, if the announced interventions were respected to the letter, will be implemented no earlier than Spring 2021, adding that an extension to July 1 will be requested. An absurd request. In order not to take responsibility for the inconvenience that will arise and not to admit their own negligence, Governor De Luca and his faithful supermanager De Gregorio are begging the railway safety agency to allow them to continue running the trains without imposing any limits, thus putting the safety of commuters, students and the many tourists who use those vehicles in the summer season at risk on a daily basis".
