Flamenco Guitar Masterclass by Matteo D'Agostino

The Flamenco Guitar Masterclass by Matteo D'Agostino, an established Roman guitarist and flamenco composer, will take place on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June 2019 from 11 am to 13 pm at the Faremusica Music Academy (Via Raimondo Annecchino 244/b) in Pozzuoli. Flamenco techniques, rhythm and harmony will be covered through the study of a short piece in the 'Bulerías de Jerez' style. The Masterclass is aimed at guitarists with at least three years of classical guitar study. At the end, the Faremusica Music Academy will issue a certificate of participation. For those who wish to delve deeper into some aspects individually, there is the possibility of one-hour private lessons in the afternoons of both days.

Matteo D'Agostino studies jazz with maestro Lello Panico and collaborates with various Blues and Jazz groups. He studies flamenco with maestro Manuel Santiago and begins his musical activity in the theatre, as a composer and performer of music for the shows of Ascanio Celestini, with whom he performs in the theatres: Argentina, Valle, Eliseo, the Auditorium of Rome and the Piccolo Teatro of Milan and in television broadcasts on Stream tv, Rai 1, Rai 2, Rai 3, Canale 5. He is the author of the music for the theatre shows Fine del mondo (2000), Radio Clandestina (2000), Cecafumo (2001), Appunti per un film sulla lotta di classe (2006), Fila indiana (2010) by Ascanio Celestini. He collaborates with Radio Rai 3 for “Radio Clandestina”, “Il tempo del lavoro” and “Cento Lire” broadcast on teatri sonori, and for the series of radio stories “Racconti Minonti Buffonti”, “Il tempo del Lavoro” and “Bella Ciao”. He collaborates on the recording project “Piccole Risonanze” recording for the CD “Le mele” and “Gli Alberi”. He edits the music for the CD attached to the books “Cecafumo” and “Radio Clandestina” by Ascanio Celestini published by Donzelli. He organizes the review “Tum Tac Bum – shows and workshops to the rhythm of the drum” at the Teatro Vascello. He organizes the theater review “Festa Festa” for the municipality of Ciampino. In 2003, 2004, 2008 and 2009 he performed at the Festival de Liège (Belgium) and at the Théâtre Nacional in Brussels, in 2005 at the Teatro Nacional de l'Havana, in 2010 and 2011 at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris. He composed and performed the music for the documentaries “Senza Paura” and “Parole Sante” produced by Fandango. In 2010 he composed the music for “Pecora Nera”, the debut film by Ascanio Celestini, in competition at the 67th Venice International Film Festival. In 2010 he made his debut at the Teatro Greco in Rome with the show “El Alma Al Aire”, for which he wrote the music, by Sabrina Logué's El Rio Andaluz dance company. In 2011 he made his debut with Ascanio Celestini's shows "Canzoni Impopolari" and "Il Razzismo è una Brutta Storia", for which he wrote the music. He has collaborated with, among others, Sabina Guzzanti, Paola Cortellesi, Frankie Hi Nrg, Vincenzo Cerami, Moni Ovadia. He composes and performs music for various Flamenco dance companies, including El Rio Andaluz by Sabrina Logué, la Barraca, Flamenco Lunares by Carmen Meloni, Claudio Javarone, the Caterina Costa Company. He collaborates with the famous flamenco singers Jesus Corbacho, Javier Rivera and others. In 2016 he was called by Farru, the dancer of Paco de Lucia's last group, to participate in his show "Por Un Sueño" at the Adriatico Mediterraneo Festival in Ancona. He is currently working with drummer Luca Caponi on the development of his project Aquí Me Encuentro, with which he brings his compositions in the Flamenco style on stage.
