Michel Platini was released shortly after 12:30 AM, according to 'L'Equipe'. The former UEFA president had been in custody since yesterday morning in Nanterre as part of the investigation into alleged corruption in the awarding of the 2018 World Cup to Russia and the 2022 World Cup to Qatar. Assisted by his lawyer, William Bourdon, Platini had been summoned as a witness. Upon his arrival at the headquarters of the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption and Financial and Fiscal Infractions (OCLCIFF) yesterday morning, police informed him of his arrest.
