Naples. “We have received dozens of reports about traffic jams in Chiaia and Fuorigrotta due to the new traffic plan for the Universiade. The creation of a preferential lane reserved for the transit of vehicles transporting athletes has led to a narrowing of some stretches of road and the closure of others, causing long queues”. This is according to the regional councillor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the councillors of the Sole che Ride in the I Municipality Giovanni Caselli and Benedetta Sciannimanica. “In relation to this problem we have asked the Municipality for clarification. We have been told that possible corrective measures are being studied. Unfortunately, there is not much room for manoeuvre. The lane reserved for athletes is a necessary measure for the Universiade and the only possible route to connect the village set up at the Stazione Marittima and the Fuorigrotta neighbourhood, where the sports facilities are located, is along the route that has been identified. In the next few hours we will continue to stay in contact with the competent offices to monitor the evolution of the situation”.
