Naples. The search is on for the other accomplices of the three drug traffickers from Naples who imported drugs from Spain using the ingenious ploy of trolleys loaded with marijuana as if they were postal packages.
The measure, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples North, which affected Patrizio Sergio, 31 years old from Melito, Gaetano Esposito, 46 years old and Antonio Scala, 19 years old from Giugliano, originated from a complex investigation activity born from the monitoring of shipments from Spain to Italy of dozens of trolleys containing marijuana headed to a sorting center in Casoria. The shipments arrived in Italy passing through various European countries together with letters indicating fictitious recipients and collected at the Casoria center thanks to internal staff.
Through wiretaps, the Operations Department of the Carabinieri Command for Health Protection in Rome identified the real recipient of the numerous packages sent, some seized in Spain and Germany, others in Casoria. During the investigation, the person who provided logistical support at the Casoria center for the collection of the packages was also identified.
Thanks to the analyses of the RIS of Rome, the Carabinieri have ascertained that the substance contained in the suitcases was a particularly valuable narcotic and of high economic value due to the high content of active ingredient. The seizures carried out have allowed them to steal approximately 35 kg of marijuana and to reconstruct the importation of over 120 kg for a value of approximately 1 million euros.
The Carabinieri are looking for links with the Camorra clans in the area and are on the trail of those who ordered the drugs. The three will have to explain to the magistrate on Monday during the preliminary hearing on behalf of whom they worked.
