“We were shocked by the report we received from a citizen who explained to us how the windows of a room on the mezzanine floor of a building on Corso Vittorio Emanuele were transformed, in the space of one night, into two shutters overlooking the sidewalk. We strongly suspect that this is yet another case of illegal building and for this reason we have sent a report to the competent offices of the municipal police. The abuse, if discovered, would represent a very serious episode also for the place where it occurred. How is it possible to carry out a transformation of this kind without anyone intervening?”. This is what the regional councilor of Verdi Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the councilor of Sole che Ride in the I Municipality Gianni Caselli say. “Unfortunately – add Borrelli and Caselli – there are dozens of cases of illegal transformations of buildings. Often the abuses go beyond the boundaries of the property, extending onto public land. In many other cases they simply change the destination and shape of the property, damaging among other things the aesthetics of the buildings and making the urban environment uneven. A tough fight by the competent bodies against these phenomena is needed, for our part we will continue to fight with the utmost determination against illegal building”.
