“Last June 20, I filed with the Regional Council an order of the day that commits the President of the Campania Region to implement, towards the Government and in particular towards the Ministry of Justice, an action of repentance for the decision, announced by Minister Trenta, to build a prison in the Cesare Battisti barracks in Cavalleggeri, in the XNUMXth Municipality of NAPLES. I will work to ensure that the order of the day, already signed by the PD Group Leader Mario Casillo, is shared by all political forces in the regional council.” This is what the regional councilor of the Democratic Party Enza Amato wrote in a note after the decision of the Minister of Justice, Elisabetta Trenta, to build a penitentiary in the Cavalleggeri neighborhood. “In the meantime, I have also written to the Mayor of NAPLES Luigi de Magistris and to the President of the XNUMXth Municipality Diego Civitillo so that they too are committed to the same battle. I also asked the PD group leaders at the Municipality and the Municipality - says the councilor - to share the agenda with colleagues from all political groups". A prison is not an answer to the need for greater security and control of the Cavalleggeri territory, as stated by Minister Trenta. The neighborhood - Amato recalls - is part of the redevelopment and urban transformation plan of Bagnoli and requires attention from the State and institutions at all levels, especially in terms of environmental, social and urban redevelopment, which certainly cannot be achieved with the construction of a penitentiary that would insist in a place with a high conurbation and close to schools" concludes the Pd representative.
