Naples. Just a year after its opening, it's already in a state of disrepair and neglect and has been closed to the public because it's unusable. We're talking about the Francesco Paolino playground in Ponticelli. The gates to the facility have been closed for over a month because overgrown weeds have made it unusable. The neighborhood's only green space and the only safe place for children to hang out and meet is closed because no one thought to cut the grass in recent months, and so first the rains and then the recent heat have turned it into a hub of insects of all kinds. Alessandro Paolino, a local figure and brother of the late Francesco, to whom the park is dedicated, is asking the Municipality to intervene to renovate the park and is also requesting access to regional funding to install playground equipment for disabled guests.
