The Cesare Battisti barracks in Naples, in the Bagnoli area, will be converted into a prison for detained mothers or, alternatively, for minors. This was announced during the signing of the framework protocol between the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice and the State Property Agency today in Naples at Palazzo Salerno, headquarters of the Southern Operational Forces Command of the Italian Army. The framework protocol was signed by the Minister of Defense Elisabetta Trenta and the Minister of Justice Alfonso Bonafede and was agreed upon between the two ministries for the rationalization of military buildings to create prison facilities and will also be applicable to other army facilities no longer in use. For the reconversion of the Naples facility, Minister Bonafede emphasized, "5 million euros have already been invested and another 10 will be allocated".
