Napoli. “We are on Elena’s side. Through her words she has given us all a lesson in civility and humanity. She is only a child but she has been able to interpret in the best possible way the needs of people with disabilities who, every day, are forced to deal with the rudeness of others. Those who move around in wheelchairs continually find obstacles in their path. The sidewalks are full of scooters and cars parked in illegally installed areas, illegally installed tables, barriers of all kinds and even street lamps that are installed on narrow walkways, resulting in unbearable obstacles for those who cannot easily circumnavigate them. We have organized initiatives with disabled people several times to show the incivility that, on a daily basis, makes their life impossible”. This is what the regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the host of “La Radiazza” on Radio Marte Francesco Emilio Borrelli say, speaking on the video posted on social media by little Elena, a little girl in a wheelchair who summarized the phenomena of incivility that make life impossible for those with disabilities. “Elena’s case,” Borrelli and Simioli add, “is that of a little girl who, as she grows up, has the right to a different world, more attentive to her needs. She tells us that “we are too focused on ourselves.” There is nothing more true. Every time a person parks in a bad spot, in front of a ramp or on a sidewalk, they should think about the problems they will cause to those who risk being stuck because of their attitude.”
