Naples. Radiology technicians at the Ospedale del Mare are threatening to strike because they are extremely short staff and the arrival of the summer holidays threatens to paralyze the department. With only 16 staff working alongside 32 radiologists, they are unable to cover shifts, meet the needs of the doctors, or provide outpatient services. They even wrote a letter to the hospital director, Giuseppe Russo, requesting "reinforcements," but were told that it wasn't his job to make the hiring decisions. In light of this, the radiology technicians have announced a strike to urge the management of the Local Health Authority Napoli 1 to address the serious situation and staffing shortages.
