Pina Cipriani, a singer considered one of the last queens of Neapolitan song, founder of the “Sancarluccio” theater together with her husband, Franco Nico, died this morning in Naples. Since the 70s, with the group “Bentornato mandolino” she has brought Neapolitan melodies around the world. Many of the greats of the show at their debut have graced the stages of the Chiaia theater, from Troisi to Benigni to Salemme. With her husband Nico, who tragically died in a car accident in 2008, Pina Cipriani was the protagonist of historic shows dedicated to Naples. The artist's funeral will take place tomorrow at 11 in the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, in Naples. There is great mourning in the Neapolitan artistic environment and in her hometown of Casal di Principe (Caserta) to which she had always remained tied.
