Naples. Fear erupted this evening on Via Toledo when debris fell from a building onto the street. Fortunately, the rocks did not hit any pedestrians. The fall occurred at number 333, opposite the Toledo metro exit. Firefighters, ambulances, traffic police, and law enforcement were on scene. The area has been cordoned off and the building has been inspected. "This morning, at the request of the Municipal Police, inspections were carried out on the debris netting protecting the frieze at the Piazza Sannazaro entrance to the Galleria Laziale. Firefighters and municipal technicians responded to the site to assess safety," a statement from the City of Naples reads. "To conduct a thorough inspection of the area, the tunnel had initially been closed to traffic as a precautionary measure. The inspection did not reveal any substantial or imminent danger, so the tunnel was partially reopened to traffic in the Fuorigrotta-Mergellina direction, only in the preferential lane normally used in the opposite direction, i.e., from Sannazaro to Fuorigrotta." "The inspections ordered by the Roads Department are currently continuing prior to the tunnel's full reopening, expected by tomorrow morning at the latest. Mario Calabrese, Councilor for Infrastructure and Transport, also visited the site to personally monitor the progress of the inspections," the statement noted.
