“Despite the controversy, the fountains of the Diaz roundabout continue to be used as swimming pools by uncivilized people who, in bathing suits, dive into them and hang out inside the pool. This behavior is an affront to the decorum of the city. This shame can be associated with a different case but, at the same time, represents serious damage to the image of the city. The Triton fountain in Piazza Cavour has been reduced to a swamp, with putrid water and waste inside. Just looking at it for a few seconds is enough to realize that maintenance has been missing for who knows how long.” This is what the regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the host of “La Radiazza” on Radio Marte Gianni Simioli say. “We have reported the case of the Museum fountain to the Municipality of Naples, asking to restore its dignity as soon as possible. As for the fountains of the Diaz roundabout, however, we can only rely on an awareness on the part of the individuals who used it as a swimming pool. It would be ridiculous, in fact, to ask the municipal police to put officers on guard at a fountain because of some citizens who cannot understand that swimming is meant to be done in the sea."
