The small one Diana, just 6 years old, risks her life if she doesn't find a donor for a bone marrow transplant soon. The Neapolitan girl's ordeal is recounted by her father Michele Bisceglia who launched an appeal on his Facebook page:
“In October 2018, she was diagnosed with a serious hematological disease called severe aplastic anemia. In practice, her marrow has stopped working and does not produce the three fundamental elements of blood: white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. The little girl, only six years old, is transfusion-dependent: she undergoes an average of two transfusions a week at the Bambino Gesù in Rome where she has been treated since the beginning of this story. The immunosuppressive treatment has not given any results, so Prof. Locatelli has indicated the path of a marrow transplant as the only way out.
In March we learned of the existence of a German donor. We were so happy. Knowing that there is someone who can save the life of the person dearest to you in the world makes you believe in the human race again. So our little girl began the pre-transplant path that consists of a series of tests (CT scans, blood tests, ultrasounds), but to date the donor has not actually come forward, causing Diana to lose 3 precious months.
Today I ask all my contacts to share this post so that it reaches the heart of those who can, with a small gesture, save the life of Diana and many small children who live in this dimension suspended between nightmare and reality.
Bone marrow donation consists of a very simple BLOOD COLLECTION. Stem cells are in fact collected directly from peripheral blood, through a procedure called apheresis, so a small gesture can save a child's life and give added value to the donor's life.
If you are between 18 and 35 years old BECOME A SUPERHERO: donate your marrow!!!
On July 6th, a simple saliva swab will be performed to verify compatibility, so you do not need to bring any blood tests.”
